Emily Dunkin began ballet, tap, and jazz training with Karen Alwin at age four. She went on to earn her Cecchetti VI teaching certificate and dance soloist roles in Christmas Joy. She has studied with Alonzo King, Luis Fuentes, and Fletcher Nickerson, and she attended Ballet Hispanico's summer workshop in New York City on full scholarship. Her performance credits include faculty concerts for the University of New Mexico Dance Department, Maria de Buenos Aires at the National Hispanic Cultural Center, and the role of Anybodys in the UNM production of West Side Story. Emily's lead roles with BRT include Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, Clara and the Snow Queen in The Nutcracker, and the fairy Cobweb in A Midsummer Night's Dream. In 2008, she made her choreographic debut in BRT's Seasons. Emily is also a competitive ballroom dancer and trains with Nicolás Rael. She graduated cum laude from the University of New Mexico with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Art History. Currently, Emily is working toward her Masters degree in Art History/Museum Studies. |
